This Piece was commissioned by Music Director Bruce Dunn in celebration and honor of the 60th Anniversary of Covington Middle School. The piece was inspired by not only the celebration of an anniversary, complete with fireworks, but also the imagery a young colt galloping across the open plain, looking up to see it’s own version of fireworks – The Aurora Borealis. The piece draws it’s inspiration from the Aurora sculpture in the front foyer of the school and the school’s mascot, the colt. As the students and teachers at Covington Middle School Always say “Once A Colt, Always A Colt.”
